Megatron

"Decepticons Never Surrender."

The ultimate command figure among the Decepticons, Megatron is tremendously powerful and highly intelligent. His charisma, passion, and indomitable courage in the face of great odds, are an inspiration to those who follow him - while his unyielding determination and ruthlessness in battle strike terror into the Autobot ranks. Megatron intends to claim all of Cybertron as his own, and from that point on, to spread the Decepticon Empire outward to the surrounding stars. His trademark weapon is a massive fusion cannon linked to his right arm, which can potentially output enough power to level small cities. Megatron sometimes lets his temper get the better of him, but he also displays a brilliant tactical sense and an instinct for innovation, making him an extremely effective leader.

Megatron is in some respects a very different kind of leader than your typical, classic Decepticon commander. This in itself makes him the best. If you look through the rest of the Decepticon Leaders' Gallery, there are some very admirable and heroic figures pictured. They all share certain traits: courage, power, vision, vast reserves of determination and inner strength, an undeniable command presence which inspires respect and trust, the ability to look beyond themselves and their immediate desires to act for the good of the whole species. Most of them, also, are cloaked in a kind of ominous unapproachability that puts them apart from their troops. Megatron, by contrast, is always in the middle of the action, living every moment's experience with his warriors - willing to take his chances with the innovative approach, and willing to bring it about with his own hands. He's got an ecclectic brilliance and a driving passion beyond even that of the other excellent Decepticon leaders. He can see possibilities where no one else can. He plans into the future while everyone else is still catching up with the past. He is, more than nearly anyone else I can think of, a genuine individual. No fakery, no false pretenses, no airs. What he does have, is the ability to turn dreams into reality, and make others believe they can do it as well.
